The Leilani Bed and Breakfast is like taking a time machine back to 5th grade lunch. You have the room monitor (aka the b&b host full of high anxiety and most likely a healthy dose of meds) and on the wall next to the chocolate milk line is a series of rules that include no shoes, food, loud noise after 9pm, they go on and on...seriously...in the room next to the bed is a page of house rules. It's the kind of bed and breakfast you go to because there's nothing else in the area and you leave thankful you didn't end up like Janet Leigh in Psycho.
Wonderful place. Easy to get to, but tucked away. Rooms very clean and great breakfast. I highly recommend.
The female Anthony Perkins (host of the house) is just that socially awkward and creepy. I spent most of my night in bed wondering what kind of disturbed back story this woman had in her former life before Hawaii. What in fact was it that landed her in this off the map town with the poor guy she has trapped there putting up with her overbearing anal retentive behavior. As a matter of fact, I'm kind of worried writing this review in the event she reads it and tracks me down.
So, if you want a funny story to tell friends after your trip...by all means stay at the Leilani Bed and Breakfast just off mile marker 78 on highway 11. But beware, there’s a fine line between this b&b host and a South America dictator.
The ONLY place to stay in Ocean View (and we've been to them all . . .). Just a nice B&B, would stay there again.
I stayed there for one night with my family. The hostess was very friendly and helpful. The room was conform to what we expected, very clean. Breakfast was simply amazing: fresh fruits, muffins, toasts, cereals... you name it! Very good location: close to south point, black sand beach and a good stop before heading to the volcano park.
