Emanuel gave us a great personal tour of the caves. Very informative of the geology before taking us on an exciting and detailed tour of the caves. We took our two kids who loved it; in addition Emanuel was very patient in answering all their questions. These caves are so much more complex than the Thurston lava tube in the national park. They offer several options for exploring, we did the one hour tour, which was actually over an hour and a half including the introduction about the geology of the island and the caves. Thanks to Gary for kindly arranging our tour very last minute!
What a hidden gem! These lava tubes are so well maintained, and the tour guide was so knowledgeable about the history and significance of these magnificent structures! You can even go cave crawling on a longer tour. This is a great find if you are on the southern point of the island!
We thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour with Gary. Up close and personal experience, and we learned so much! One of our favorite activities on the Big Island, well worth it!
Much more fun than expected. Was very impressed by tour guide and had lots of fun. Tour itself was shorter than expected; before tour, guide tells you about some interesting information concerning caverns and Hawaiian history. Got lighted trail tour, feel I should have got one of the longer other tours that are off trail.
We truly enjoyed the tour. Gary was a delight. His personality and knowledge enhanced the entire experience. We would definitely return for the longer cave tour if our trip allows and Gary is our guide.
